Once Again, Germany Defines Who Is a Jew | Part II | Granta
By George Prochnik, Emily Dische-Becker & Eyal Weizman
George Prochnik leads a conversation with Emily Dische-Becker & Eyal Weizman on Germany’s response to Hamas’s attack on October 7, embedded in its national paradigm centered on historical guilt. They outline the dangerous drifts emerging from the crackdown on freedom of speech and solidarity with Palestinians, the criminalisation of demands for peace and justice in Palestine whilst refusing to hold the Israeli government accountable for its actions. They further argue that Jewish fear is being used as justification for German racism and for increasingly right-wing politics.

Israel-Palestine war: Reclaiming the slogan ‘from the river to the sea’ | Middle East Eye
By Hamid Dabashi
While the Zionist idea of land grabbing lays behind the slogan “From the river (Jordan) to the sea (Mediterranean)”, its reference in the Palestinian anti-colonial struggle and national liberation movement might find reference in the Edward Said wise and elegant account of a reunited land where Jews, Muslims, Christians live all together. And it’s now chanted all over the world in support of Palestine and defying the ongoing genocidal massacre of civilians in Gaza and the West Bank.

Palestine Nexus

By Zachary Foster
The claim of “no moral equivalency between Israel and Hamas” is not entirely accurate. The author examines the historical context and actions of Hamas and Israel, particularly focusing on the principle of distinction in international humanitarian law, which requires distinguishing between civilian and military targets. It points out that while Hamas initially targeted the Israeli military in the late 1980s and early 1990s, both Hamas and Israel violated the principle from 1994-2005.
From 2007 to the present, the article criticizes Israel’s blockade on Gaza, calling it an ongoing act of war and highlighting the severe impact on the civilian population. It also discusses disproportionate civilian casualties during Israeli military campaigns in 2008-2009 and 2014. He argues that while both Hamas and Israel targeted civilians, Israel had killed 100 times more civilians than Hamas.
The recent events in October 2023 are also mentioned, with Hamas accused of a war crime against Israeli civilians, countered by the claim that Israel responded with intentional massacres, resulting in significant harm to civilians.
